Summer… Swimming… Tears?
CS doesn’t want to continue with his swimming lessons, and I’m not sure what exactly is going on there. This morning, he came to me with tears in his eyes saying, “There’s another reason that I don’t like swimming lessons… it’s because I have to wear nothing under my swim shorts.”
Ok, my first reaction is to comfort him and let him know we can buy some little Speedos to wear underneath his shorts. But since he doesn’t know what Speedos are (and I’m not sure if they even make them that small), my words of comfort didn’t jive.
More investigating is needed… something’s up.

Yeah, I think something is up. There was a time when my cousin didn’t want to go to school anymore and when asked about it said that nothing was wrong. Well, that wasn’t true. She was being bullied by a little boy. Once the problem was resolved she enjoyed school.
Nice site.

You know, I’ve always thought he was a little weird but Cowboy wears his tightywhiteys under his swim suit and always has as far as I know I believe he didn’t when he was on the swim team because of you Speedo issue but he doesn’t like the.. er.. sensation of doing without either. If all else fails, perhaps a clean pair of undies under the suit?
Love the new digs!
I like it.
I started reading your blog when you were the pick of the week- I enjoy it.
I have an 18 year old son- he has always worn underwear with his swimsuit. He says it just feels too weird otherwise! It seems to be a common guy thing…
My husband also wears underwear with his-just in case of swimsuit failure…
Not to worry… going commando is a daunting task for the best of us.
Actually, take a look at the liner of the bathing suit. Sometimes, they’re not the most comfortable place to be. Perhaps that could be the issue. Also, explain to him that the liner counts as “built-in” underwear.
My cousin wore underwear under his bathing suit, and when I slept over one time, my aunt made me do the same. I couldn’t stand it because they get so heavy and clingy. I guess it’s a matter of preference, though.
I like the new digs. The pool where my children normally have summer lessons is not opening this year so I have to decide if I want to sign them up at the indoor Y.

@Angei: It’s a good thing they found out about the bully. She must’ve been scared to say anything for fear of retaliation. Kids can be so cruel sometimes. :’(
@Christy: Great advice! He says he doesn’t like the baggy wet thing going on with wet underwear, so I’ll try the tightest whities and see if that does the trick.
@Earl: Yay, my squirrel friend paid me a visit. I feel so special now.
@Patti: Wow! You mean I haven’t scared you off yet? I’m extremely honored. And yes, I guess I need to be more sympathetic in the swimsuit arena. It’s just so hard to relate on this one… you know?
@Eric: I’ll take a closer look at the liner. It’s on my “to do” list right now. Definitely one of the more unusual things I’ve put on that list in a long time.
@Christine: It’s worth it, IMHO. I’m seeing the kids do things I never learned: power butterfly, body dolphins, breast stroke, DIVING. (Can you believe I never learned how to dive? That’s what I get for stopping at the “minnow” level. Oh wait, they use a numeric system now.)
WOW! Love the new place girl! This looks so grand! I’m getting envious of all of you people getting your own homes and doing everything the way you want to, then again, I wouldn’t know where to start! LOL.
Since I never had boys, not sure if something is ‘fishy’ at lessons or it really is the suit that bothers him. I’m the girl expert.
Have a great one!
