Yes, this was absolutely me 30 years ago. As a youngster, I’d be on stage dancing my bootie off for the neighborhood with no shame whatsoever. I guess you can say that it was “in my blood” because who in their right mind would have the nerve at such a young age to groove in front of everyone and their brother right there in the street and be proud of it, right? Me, apparently. That chick and I must be related. Somehow. You go girl!

That’s where I’ll be going after breaking my Ash Wednesday fast today. *pfft* Father J’s gonna smudge a big ashy “X” on my forehead tonight while giving casting me the evil eye… I just know it.

Today while at the Assisted Living Center, I learned more about why Apocalyptic Sister L has only one arm. It’s not like it ever came up in everyday conversation like, “Oh hi there, Sister! I’m here to work on your computer and, by the way, what happened to your missing arm?” I’m polite that way. And yes, I know this is difficult material to muster, but I’ve really been wondering and today was my big chance to find out.
As it happened, she pulled out a brochure with a photo of a small one-armed child who lost her arm during birth and described to me how she could associate with this unfortunate little girl. Using this as an opening, I asked, “So what happened… to you, that is?” Sister L continued by telling me about the tumor she developed on her lower arm in her late 20’s, over 45 years ago. The doctor apparently thought it would be best to remove HER ENTIRE SHOULDER AND EVERYTHING BELOW IT. *grimace*
Sister L described to me how she could still feel her arm as if it were there but asleep. Then she presented me with a poem about herself, written by a cousin very dear to her. And printed songs to help the Catholic Kids remember the apostles. Along with more poems to recall the Commandments. This was a woman calling out for more than computer help… I only hope that I fulfilled something for her today.

I haven’t lost interest in vlogging. In fact, I’ve been testing out vlog posting methods here and there, but life keeps interrupting the testing process. Over on MSN Spaces, I tested the iDog video by using Soapbox. So hmmmm… let’s see how Soapbox looks over here:

Wow! Clearer than Photobucket. Should I bother with YouTube?
