Dear God

You completely ROCK. I mean, ‘yes’ I was drooling all over that Administrator’s new notebook computer all week and didn’t really mean for You to crash my harddrive. But WOW! It got me a new Toshiba laptop that I’m totally in love with right now. Well, kind of. I’ve been configuring it all day… you know, importing email/favorites/contacts, installing programs, etc. And well, I’m pretty much sick of computers right now. But thanks for that reminder that one never knows when the inevitable will actually happen.

Like crashed harddrives.

Good thing for that new Nano that Hubs gave me for Christmas, because my music isn’t lost afterall. *whew* But that weekly backup routine that I should have been doing? Well, it slid a little… but Fall 2006 is better than nothing, so I’m counting blessings right now.

Let’s just say that I’ve learned a BIG lesson this week: Backup data/photos regularly and keep application disks handy, because you never know when God will take out the life of your harddrive. With no warning whatsoever.

Be careful what you wish for.

Vista Dilemma

Published by itchick under Sisters, Tech Stuff, Work Related

I’m salivating right now, and no, not because of the little bag of munchies I just whipped out of my desk. The drool I’m experiencing is directly related to the brand-spankin’-new-bright-and-shiny notebook computer that I found in my office today. *sigh* Yes, that sleek little machine is an absolute thing of beauty, and I’m in complete awe as I set it up right now. *melt*

Only… here’s the bad news: One, it’s not mine and two, the operating system is bad. The reason it’s not mine is because a high ranking person in my office asked me to buy it for her. (Dang!) And the problem with the operating system is that it’s not Windows XP (the one she’s familiar with) but Windows Vista Home Premium instead. And I’m afraid Vista will scare the living daylights out of that woman.

So here are my options:

  • Keep Vista on the machine and hope she doesn’t realize it’s not running Windows XP.
  • Ship it back to HP and order a replacement that won’t arrive until after the big meeting during which time she needs to have the notebook.
  • Go grab a copy of Windows XP from Office Depot and load it on top of Vista.
  • Pack up the notebook and run away with it before anyone catches wind that it ever arrived.

Decisions, decisions. This is a toughie.

Dear President Bush

Published by itchick under Health & Fitness

First and foremost I’d like to apologize for the lateness in reporting my status in your Presidential fitness program. Yes, it has been awhile, hasn’t it? But it’s not like I haven’t been working out, nosiree! Quite the opposite. In fact, the Hubs has been coming down on me for being so obsessive about all this working out business, and frankly, he’s getting a little worried.

What? You’re the guy who got me started on it, so don’t give me that look. Ok yes, I am up to 120 situps on the incline, riding fast-paced elliptical programs (-344 calories a shot!), and don’t even get me started on all the circuit and weight training. You’ve turned me into a complete exercise fanatic, George. I’m a total. workout. addict nut. But that can’t be such a bad thing now, can it?

Anyway, I thought you’d like to see the fancy bronze and silver medals your people sent me:
Presidential Fitness Medals

Sweet, huh? And now it looks like I only have 26,890 points left to go before… GOLD. GOLD! Stay tuned, Georgie, because it won’t be long. Check this out:

Then what?
