Batten Down the Hatches
Because the world is not always a happy place as we’d like to believe, time to do this to the blog. Thanks for the horrific news, Deannie.
Update: It made the BBC news. Click here to read more.

When you read the background info on some of these other blogs, it still doesn’t in any way make sense that things would escalate to the level that Kathy Sierra is experiencing.
I just feel so lucky to have such a close group of folks that I consider to be friends that associate with me via my blog. Thanks for being one of those good folks.
hugs,
Still reading… between IT calls, of course. I’m also feeling blessed with my blogger niche, although occasionally a newbie pops in unannounced and forces me to re-evaluate the amount of information I blurt out here.
Ooof… reading this gives me the willies. I, too, think about how much I’ve put out there and how hard or easy it would be to find me… and it scares me. I do have a great group of blogger friends but I know for a fact that I also have about 95% of anonymous (but not so anonymous that I can’t track them) lurkers. And this is why I have those measures set-up on my blog.

Scary stuff.
Hopefully this comment will take. I got your email and this response is the test.
ooOooo… it worked.
You go girl!
My husband and I were just talking about the precautionary measures we are taking on our blog last night. I can see there is quite a debate started. I guess that it what Kathy wanted out of it. I still feel somewhat sheltered and comfortable with my little niche of blogger friends. I don’t know what it would be like to receive threats via comments and I certainly don’t want to have to experience it to find out. I’ll find a few more hatches to batten down.
Maybe I better train Manny to be more like an attack cat!
@Natalie: I’m with you in setting up measures. Too freaky out there. And thanks for posting—still not sure what happened yesterday. *scratches head*
@JM: Best of luck with the battening. I’ll be the first to admit that I stink at battening hatches. Just terrible at it.
@Mannyed: Hey, there’s an idea… Smokie could do the same! She’s got some serious back claws that could do some damage.
Scary stuff.
