The Catholic Hubs and I just finished having lunch at Arby’s, but this was no ordinary lunch. Nuh-uh. Why? Well, Hubs leaked some secret insider information having to do with the selection of a new Nebraska Cornhusker football coach. Oh yes he did! So now I must spill the beans right here in bloggerville, because that’s what blogs are all about: bean spilling information disseminating.

As background, the NU football team took a nose dive after the selection of Bill Callahan as head coach four years ago, replacing the FIRED coach Frank Solich. The Athletic Director, Steve Pederson, made some stupid very bad decisions, including the firing of Solich and hiring of Callahan. Since then, Pederson continued digging his grave, thus leading to his own ousting by the UNL Chancellor, Harvey Perlman. Recently Perlman replaced Pederson with the legendary former head coach Tom Osborne as the Interim Athletic Director—and what better man to step in and fire Callahan after the unspeakable SECOND losing football season? Tom! That’s what I’m sayin’.

Here’s the insider information:
A meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. CST this afternoon between Osborne and the NU football players, during which time former NU and current LSU Defensive Coordinator Bo Pelini will be named the new NU head football coach. Not only that, but former NU Assistant Coach/University of Buffalo head coach Turner Gill will be named the NU Assistant Coach.

This is big stuff here in the heartland, folks. Huge even. NU needs Pelini and Gill back home to regain all the lost credibility that Callahan flushed down the toilet with his West Coast offense playbook. Therefore, I’m putting out a request for actual prayers to make this ‘insider information’ become a reality. Can you help? Or do I need to channel some folks back in God’s Country who seem to have a direct connection upstairs? Ok well I’m not above doing that either, you know.
