Who am I? Who am I? I am… the walrus.

Ok, not really, but thinking about the whole ‘YourName.com’ business has me asking myself that question, giving me a big flashback to The Breakfast Club and the Beatles - in that order.

So why exactly am I even thinking about ‘YourName.com’ anyway? Well, because I actually bought mine, that’s why. Yes. I did. And the reason I bought it is mostly because it was available when I started up a new client’s website, the one with the individual’s name in the domain, which forced me to believe that I’d better just go out there and buy my own before someone else takes it right out from under my nose. That could actually happen, you know.

Now what?

According to some sources, having YourName.com is the ‘ultimate in prestige’ in the way of marketing yourself career-wise. It’s like having your own online personal business card available 24/7. Not only that, but for me as a consultant, having my own personal domain puts a face behind the work that I do for business contacts. Yet reserving the name is only step 1 in the process with website design, development and hosting steps 2, 3 & 4. Good thing I can do all that without contracting out another business. Thanks be to God there.

Alright yes, so it’s really just a big excuse to create another website.
