Lunch Time Bloggin’

Published by itchick under Aliens, Blog Stuff, Cooking, Food, Lunch

You’re never going to believe this, but it’s true. I’ve actually deviated from my usual Lean Cuisine frozen lunch variety and had myself a South Beach Diet entree for lunch today. And now I remember exactly why I avoid performing such atrocities. It’s like this…

CHICKEN FILLER(?)

I’m not going into details about how the chicken in this particular Chicken Bosilico with Rotini entree tasted like some sort of boogery gelatinoid substance, completely devoid of actual CHICKEN MEAT. Nope. Not going there today. Instead I will warn you against purchasing and taking any kind of bites out of that toxic gunk boxed up all innocent-like in the frozen food aisle. That stuff is EVIL, I tell you. Even after I’ve brushed my teeth with Arm & Hammer peroxide toothpaste, I still can’t seem to get the memory of that icky substance out of my head.

So what’d you have for lunch anyway?

Giveaway Time

Ok, I’ve thought long and hard about this idea… so here we go.

My fantabulous blogger IT-diva friend, Jeri, has been waiting ever so patiently for me to post a Sci-Fi book to our Chicken Lit reading list, and I’ve promised to do just that by introducing Barrayar by Lois McMaster Bujold as the book of the moment. So to attract more readers to the bookclub in our Sci-Fi read, I’m setting up a GIVEAWAY.

That’s right.

Everyone who joins in with us on the next bookclub read will be submitted into our drawing to win a free Chicken Lit Tile Coaster. These are so coveted that you know you must have one, so why not join in with us? I mean, even I haven’t read a Sci-Fi book since the college days - so help me out here, will you?

Meanwhile, enjoy Saturday Night Live this weekend… the writers finally came through again. Thank goodness for that.

Update 2/27/08: The recommended sci-fi books are not the next bookclub selections. Check the sidebar link for the current book choice.

Week #2: The Senator’s Wife

Published by itchick under Entertainment, Friends

With all of our readers ready to move on with more Book-#2-Talk, let’s go ahead and post comments here about chapters 7 through 10. I don’t know about you, but I’m chompin’ at the bit to say a few things. And all that chompin’ aggravates my TMJ, so why waste another minute.

Your thoughts? (No spoilers, please.) :)

Week #1: The Senator’s Wife

Published by itchick under Bookclub, Books, Entertainment, Friends

Here it is: discussion over the first six chapters of our third Chicken Lit bookclub read. This time I know we’ve got a few readers in on the gig, so please don’t let me down. I’m dying to chat about this one with actual blogger readers, especially on a Lenten Friday with me all deprived of meat. You know how that goes. Well, maybe you do? Anyway!

What are your thoughts about the book so far? Just a few questions to start us off - How are Meri and Delia’s predicaments similar/different? Is your heart as heavy as mine for the life Delia has chosen with her husband, the unfaithful Senator? Does Meri’s snooping in Delia’s correspondence give her the full picture of the couple’s history? What about the pregnancy - will Meri ever feel joy in having Nathan’s baby? And do you think Meri and Nathan will experience the kind of love Delia and Tom have found together, despite Tom’s infidelity?

Those are just a few questions popping into my head at the moment, but feel free to discuss any others that you may have.
