Ever since last year’s annual physical in which I’d impressed the OB/GYN with my lack of health complaints or issues, I vowed to maintain status quo so as not to disappoint Dr. M this year. And after 12 months of pushing myself to the limit with a regular exercise routine, staying good with daily calorie counting and fasting the night before my appointment, well, I’m pretty sure I’ve achieved that goal.
Here’s how it all played out today:

Ordinarily, the Catholic Family and I would’ve attended the NU spring football game in Lincoln, NE. But this year, we missed it due to a flu-bug situation with a certain small person who needed extra rest at home on game day. Things work out that way sometimes. But no worries, because we watched highlights of the game on TV which was just fine by us. The excitement and anticipation of a new Bo Pelini football era is completely contagious, whether we attended the game in real life or watched the aftermath on television. Good times are back!
Speaking of which, did you see the big NU write-up in Sports Illustrated last week?! It’s true! Our little red and white team made SI, leaving everyone in the state all puffed up with pride and with big heads over the whole thing. The newscasters and reporters even held up copies for all to see during a news broadcast, as they smiled all wide-eyed. I mean, this is not your no name magazine folks - it’s SPORTS ILLUSTRATED. Which leads me to wonder if the media is pumping Husker Nation up for a big letdown all over again, leaving all those cornhead hats smushed up in the wake of all this hysteria. I don’t think I can bear it again after what Callahan did to the team. So sad.
*ohhm* Positive thoughts here. *ohhm*
Off in search of that ‘Tunnel Walk‘ video. Now that’s inspiration.

March 20, the first day of spring, was the expected date of delivery (EDD) for Catholic Girlie 11 years ago. So on this day every year, I think back to this time back in 1997 when my life changed forever. Ten months pregnant, I couldn’t wait to see CG’s sweet little face and the color of her hair (if any), count her fingers and toes, dress her up in cute little baby clothes, cuddle with her and then hand her over to Catholic Hubs who had only been able to feel her kick through my belly during the pregnancy. We were so excited and wanted her to finally be OUT.
But no. She wasn’t meant to be born that day.

That would be me after a long day of fasting and feeling all faint during Ash Wednesday’s mass, then eating a tuna melt at Culver’s that I felt the need to work off on the elliptical afterwards. Who pulled the dumb there? And it only got better at 2:00 a.m. when a little voice woke me up with “Mom, I peed the bed.”
Okee dokee! One less set of sheets to change on laundry day.
Even after 2 cups of espresso, I’m still feeling a bit off this morning. Yet meanwhile, life continues onward because the world doesn’t just stop after someone pees the bed and wakes up Mom in the middle of her peaceful slumber. It’s true, I just checked.
Oh, about that bookclub read? My copy should arrive today, and you can expect the timeline to go up soon after. Join in for the greater good and the chance to win a fancy parting gift: Chicken Lit Tile Coaster
