As Crickets Chirp

Here at my blog, that is. Because between enjoying Spring Break and working on consulting projects, this here blog has been slightly abandoned. Not on purpose, of course, but it just seems that whenever I sit down to post something lately, I’m all: Where in the world do I start? With so many things going on, how do I focus on any ONE thing?

Focus. Focus ITCM. You can do it girl.

Alrighty then, so let’s talk about my latest Target gadget find:
A Microsoft wireless mouse.
Latest Toy Gadget
While it’s just a simple thing, I did a little squeal after finding it between shopping for socks and underwear for the kids at the new local Super Target. And now I’m loving that my other travel mouse is no longer annoying me with its pesky cord. Technology is so sweet! What in the world took me so long to make this eensy little swap? As if underwear shopping triggered some sort of neural connection in my brain telling me to head over to the electronics department to ogle over wireless computer gadgets? What a scary thought.

Icy Floppies

As I sit here in my office at the Mother House tending to a computer issue with Sister J and the Dell Gold technician by way of conference call, fleeting thoughts about the weather keep popping into my head. This morning Weather Dude announced that we will be experiencing some seriously icky rain and ice after midnight, potentially weighing down trees and power lines across the area. This is not good news to my ears, because well… there goes the Internet Saturday morning. *iggs*

And the Catholic Son will attempt using the ice factor to his advantage by trying to get out of attending mass again. I know this. Because that’s what he does. Always. But I’m already ahead of him on that game. (Sorry dude.)

Meanwhile, Sister J seems to have some sort of bios/boot sector problem and keeps getting that dreaded ‘Non-system disc error’ when she attempts to boot up her computer, even though she swears there’s ABSOLUTELY NO FLOPPY IN THE A: DRIVE. Fearless warrior/Gold tech man, Mike, has been all over the issue for 2 hours now, and so far he’s had Sister J hop up & down on one foot and stand on her head while hitting the scroll lock/alt-f/F2/F12 key combination with her toes.

Only… what’s that you say?

Yes, Sister. Take the floppy out of the drive before starting it up next time. Problem solved, OS repair and all.

Fresh baked cookies are in order. I’m just sayin’.

Dear Microsoft

Published by itchick under Microsoft, Stressin', Tech Stuff

Check it out Bill, now it’s your turn to get a “nasty-gram” from the IT Chick, so feel special. Surely you’re just chompin’ at the bit right now wanting to know how peeved I am at you, right? And I am, let me tell you. Yes, I’ve got 2 big huge bones to pick with you, so get comfortable and read on.

First of all, this whole rivalry thing you’ve got going with Steve Jobs just cost me a new iPod Nano. That’s. Right. I found it completely dead this morning when I went to turn on my computer, and I’m blaming it on you because the Nano was doing just fine until I attached it to my new laptop, the new one that just happens to be running on Windows Vista. Call it Apples vs. Oranges… whatever. I’m peeved about it, especially because I need tunes for my workout tonight, and you just ruined that whole plan.

Second of all, your new Windows Vista operating system won’t synchronize with my Compaq iPAQ. It won’t. So basically, you’re forcing me to purchase/download/install Windows Mobile 5.0, and then your people give me this explanation when it doesn’t work? What’s that all about? Why’d you have to go and mess up a good thing, Bill? So basically, I have absolutely no other choice than to buy a new iPAQ. *hmpff*

And you wonder why people hate Microsoft.

Stay tuned. I’m just getting started.
