End of Era

It’s all happening so fast. In a nutshell, I truly believe school administrators have a strategic plan in place for students who are finishing out the end of elementary school and embarking into the big MIDDLE SCHOOL experience, and that plan is to:

Bombard kids and parents with as much activity as humanly possible to keep them from realizing what is about to happen to their lives.

So now that I’m onto these people, I just have one request: Can’t we just skip it and say we did? You know. Skip all of the painful experiences of puberty and tween-hood, and move right on to high school - or better yet college? Because I’m really wanting to breeze right past this whole complete and utter trauma. *sigh*

Lord help this ITCM. :’(

Dealing with Blog Issues

Intermittently throughout the day, I’ve been dealing with blog issues that I won’t go into detail here. However, out of this whole dealing process I must say that leaving my ITCM look/theme has been more difficult than at first I’d imagined. But it must be done… and so I’m on the lookout for a new theme that will do the following for this blog:

  • Support widgets. Got to have those here, including one that is Flickr related to display photos.
  • Allow me to change the banner. Generic banners are just. not. my. style.
  • Simple yet elegant. I don’t do the busy look - less is more.

Anyway, that’s only a small part of what I’ve dealt with in this blog today… that and the question of Do I really want to deal with the crap that goes along with maintaining a blog anyway? Yes, I’m unhappy about recent blog-related events, and yet not ready to throw in the towel after a lost Saturday. Stay tuned.

Semi-Retirement?

No way, José. While on a call with family recently, I was asked:

So how’s that semi-retirement treating you?

And I had to laugh with a furrowed brow, mostly because I’ve been fielding calls from the Mother House as the on-call consultant WHILE developing and launching 2 brand new websites from the ground up. Let me tell you, the only thing holding me together is the freedom to work in the comfort of my own home office on Sundays while still in my jammies. Seriously.

As it turns out, God gave me a nudge at just the right moment - because had I not resigned and changed employment status to a consulting basis when I did, I would’ve pulled the hair right out of my head due to overload stress sending the whole wide world running in the opposite direction. So basically, the timing was perfect.

Meanwhile, in the event that you’re wondering how my ‘Semi-Retirement’ is going these days, think again. All I can say is that the Lord works in mysterious ways, and I’m all for the way it’s working right about now. *genuflects*

Holy Workload

Who would’ve thought that when a person quits a job to go full-time as a sole proprietor/consultant, the formerly active blog owned by said person would start collecting dust? Not I. No way, Jose. *cough*

And it won’t.

Just let me get out from under this hefty workload I’m experiencing, and then I promise to get this blog moving again. Meanwhile, I hope everyone is having a good start of the New Year? Oh and wait, here’s a joke from Sister L:

  • Sister: Did you hear about the kidnapping?
  • Me: No. What happened?
  • Sister: They woke him up.

Nothing like good clean humor. Thanks, Sister L!
