That’s Just Spooky

Life has changed immensely since I’ve gone full-time as a SAHM/technology consultant, and I just love it. More than words can describe, actually. But let me share something that really kind of creeped me out when I arrived back at the Mother House to work on a computer today…

As I walked down the hall past my former office, the one with my desk and files still intact, I caught a glimpse of a high ranking employee looking through important documents that I’d saved before leaving the organization. At first, this didn’t bother me a bit. But then I started rummaging through my brain trying to remember all of what I’d left in those files, and I wondered what in the world this person wanted with the printouts left behind.

I’m sure this happens all of the time after an employee leaves an organization, but usually the former employee doesn’t get a chance to witness it personally like I did today. It was a surreal moment… kind of out-of-body-ish to be exact.

Spooky.

Semi-Retirement?

No way, José. While on a call with family recently, I was asked:

So how’s that semi-retirement treating you?

And I had to laugh with a furrowed brow, mostly because I’ve been fielding calls from the Mother House as the on-call consultant WHILE developing and launching 2 brand new websites from the ground up. Let me tell you, the only thing holding me together is the freedom to work in the comfort of my own home office on Sundays while still in my jammies. Seriously.

As it turns out, God gave me a nudge at just the right moment - because had I not resigned and changed employment status to a consulting basis when I did, I would’ve pulled the hair right out of my head due to overload stress sending the whole wide world running in the opposite direction. So basically, the timing was perfect.

Meanwhile, in the event that you’re wondering how my ‘Semi-Retirement’ is going these days, think again. All I can say is that the Lord works in mysterious ways, and I’m all for the way it’s working right about now. *genuflects*

Bring on the Cancellations

Weather. We all love it, don’t we? Especially if you’re a kid watching school cancellations roll across the television screen, leaving Mom & Dad to rearrange schedules, right?

Lordy.
